Throughout this study, the CSIS Economics Program has received invaluable support and intellectual input from experts and former policymakers through a series of roundtables and other discussions. Their insights are critical to the content of the report, and we thank all who participated and contributed. The author and contributing authors alone are responsible for the report’s findings and recommendations and any errors in fact, analysis, or omission.

The authors of this report would also like to thank the many people at CSIS who have contributed their time and insights to this project over the past 18 months. The team is especially grateful to Jude Blanchette, Gerard DiPippo, Matthew P. Goodman, Grace Hearty, Scott Kennedy, William A. Reinsch, Lindsey Sheppard, and John Schaus, who provided excellent strategic advice throughout the lifecycle of the project. This report is the product of critical research, drafting, and logistical support from CSIS research associates Dylan Gerstel, Matthew Reynolds, and Brooke Roberts. Thank you to Megan Zsorey for her impeccable administrative support and to the CSIS Economics Program’s incredible stable of interns who contributed both research and creativity to this project, including Conrad Bertez, Adam Braver, Reid Fennerty, Hannah Grothusen, Noah Riley, Isaac Robinson, and Akhil Thadani. Finally, we would like to thank our talented colleagues in the CSIS External Relations Department—Jeeah Lee, Katherine Stark, and Phillip Meylan—who tirelessly managed the publication process.

This report is made possible through the generous support of the Smith Richardson Foundation. We are grateful for the opportunity to analyze in depth the U.S.-China economic relationship, and we hope our findings can inform U.S. policy and processes going forward.
